How much does hotel software cost in Tanzania?
Hotel software prices are hard to compare because the same total can be built in very different ways. This guide explains the common pricing models, what to ask about, and what Oak charges.

How prices are usually built
- Per room. A fee for each room you list. It is fair for small properties and grows with you.
- Per property. One price for the whole hotel, sometimes in bands such as "up to 10 rooms".
- Per module. A low starting price, then extra charges for housekeeping, restaurant, reports or the channel manager. The real price is the total of everything you need.
- Per user. A charge for every staff login, which can punish hotels that rotate staff.
- Set-up and training fees. A one-time charge to get started. Ask what it includes.
- Commission. Some booking tools take a percentage of every booking made through them, which rises with your success.
Questions that reveal the real cost
- What exactly is included in the monthly price, and what costs extra?
- Is the price in shillings or dollars? If dollars, what happens when the exchange rate moves?
- Is there a contract, and what does it cost to stop?
- Is there a set-up or training fee?
- Do I pay extra for the channel manager, or for each booking site I connect?
- Does my booking page charge a commission?
What Oak charges
Oak's prices are published on the pricing page, in Tanzanian shillings, billed monthly with no contract. Plans differ only by the number of rooms. Every screen is on every plan.
- Lite, up to 10 rooms: TZS 50,000 a month.
- Pro, up to 30 rooms: TZS 120,000 a month.
- Max, up to 80 rooms: TZS 250,000 a month.
- Enterprise, unlimited rooms and multi-property groups: quoted.
The channel manager, OTA Connect, is an add-on, priced to match your plan: TZS 30,000, 72,000 or 150,000 a month. Smart-lock codes are charged per lock. Setup, staff training and going live are done with you, in person or on a call. Your own booking page takes direct bookings with no commission.
A worked example
A guesthouse with 12 rooms selling on two booking sites would be on Pro at TZS 120,000 a month, plus OTA Connect at TZS 72,000, a total of TZS 192,000 a month. A 9-room lodge selling only direct and by phone would be on Lite at TZS 50,000 a month.
How to judge value
Compare the monthly price with what one problem costs you: a double booking you have to fix, a day's cash that does not add up, or a booking site's commission on a guest who would have booked direct. Software pays for itself when it prevents even a few of these a month.
